Beaches and Sesame Street to Impact Communities

Sesame Street
Children in Antigua and Barbuda as well as Barbados are poised to benefit from the exclusive partnership between Sandals Resorts International and Sesame Street, when the Beaches brand is fully developed in both countries.

Regional Public Relations Manager, Dominic Fedee, said the relationship between both entities spans some 10 years and adds that one of the hallmarks of the company is innovation and the development of new concepts and ideas.

During a recent tour of Beaches Turks and Caicos, Fedee told local journalists, “I am confident and excited that both countries will be able to capitalize on the relationship. This is something that will be very advantageous to Antigua and Barbados. The sheer draw and power of that partnership is testament of the strength of the Beaches brand”.

The Regional Public Relations Manager added that recognized Sesame Street characters will be utilized to bring full awareness to the work of the Sandals Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Sandals Resort International (SRI).

“We intend to take Sesame Street characters into the communities, into the schools where children will meet them and learn a lot and bring smiles to their faces. The Sandals Foundation focuses on community, education and the environment and our friends on the corner of Sesame Street will be here to help us”, said an excited Fedee.

Meanwhile, Fedee believes the impact in Antigua and Barbados will be tremendous and will also provide an opportunity for an increase in airlift and diversification in the tourism sectors.

“We (SRI) have two focus – one is family, very important and then couples. A lot of honeymooners are coming to Antigua. This is a great opportunity to diversify our efforts into the American market, because of the strength of the Sandals/Beaches brand and it will work to the benefit of the people of Antigua and Barbuda and Barbados”, continued Fedee.

Beaches Antigua will feature an ice-skating rink (a first), waterpark slides, a cinema, an X Box lounge, the Sesame Street camp, among other attractions.

Construction work on the project should commence between the months of April and May next year.
