Caribbean Helicopters

Established in Antigua in 1995, Caribbean Helicopters Limited holds an Antiguan Air Operators Certificate issued by the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority and is also licensed as an Approved Maintenance Organisation, with hangar facilities located at Antigua’s V.C. Bird International Airport. Our Company’s main heliport is located in the Fort James area very close to the Port of St. John’s and is primarily used for our tour and charter operations servicing both cruise ship and hotel clientele alike.

Today, Caribbean Helicopters provides many services to Antigua and Barbuda and the Eastern Caribbean region, operating as far South as Guyana and as far North as Anguilla. Our flight operations are in the form of tours, inter-island charters, aerial photography/film work, medical evacuation, sling work, construction, mining exploration and search & rescue all on a Day VFR basis.

We have been supporting the scientific staff at the Montserrat Volcano Observatory (MVO) since 2005, flying crews to remote monitoring sites and landing inside the exclusion zone of the Soufriere Hills Volcano. In addition our Company has numerous contracts with the major cruise lines visiting Antigua, and the Company maintains its membership of the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association.

Our company operates Bell 206 series Long Ranger and Jet Ranger helicopters. All company aircraft are fitted with pop-out floats that can be deployed in seconds, providing the ability to land on water in the event of an emergency. All operations are fully insured and are regulated by the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (E.C.C.A.A.) to standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (I.C.A.O.), the Civil Aviation Authority (C.A.A.) of the United Kingdom, and Federal Aviation Authority (F.A.A.) of the United States.

Our pilots are all certified commercial pilots, most with instructor/examiner ratings and have gained their experience in military, civil and commercial operations, logging several thousand hours of flight time.

Our commitment to the safety and comfort of our passengers is our primary concern. At Caribbean Helicopters we are very proud of our accident free safety record for the 17 years since the company’s incorporation. All our aircraft are fitted with safety equipment including emergency pop-out flotation gear, life jackets and life rafts. Prior to every flight, each passenger is required to participate in a pre-flight safety briefing , where the full safety features of the aircraft and heliport are explained in detail by our Ground Staff. Please note, each passenger is required by regulation to wear a life jacket (folded into a waist pouch) on all company flights. At all times during the ground segment of the flight, passengers are accompanied by a member of Caribbean Helicopters Ground Staff who assist with seat belts, headsets, door operation and movement around the helicopter.
