JOHNSON & WALES UNIVERSITY RENEWS SCHOLARSHIP PLEDGE WITH CHTA EDUCATION FOUNDATION FOR 2010 Date: 03 February 2010 SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (Feb. 3, 2010) Johnson & Wales University has long been one of the greatest partners of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association Education Foundation (CHTAEF) and following a meeting between Jeff Greenip, Director of Admissions for the universitys North Miami Campus, and CHTAEF Chairman Tom Pas at Caribbean Marketplace 2010, the two have announced the continuation of collaborative efforts to provide scholarships for Caribbean students pursuing bachelors degrees in the College of Culinary Arts and the Hospitality College.
The scholarship is available to Caribbean Nationals and will be jointly funded by Johnson & Wales Universitys North Miami Campus and the CHTAEF. The Charlotte and Rhode Island Johnson & Wales campuses continue their support by each offering one scholarship in their International Tourism Management programs.
Johnson & Wales University has been a tremendous supporter of Caribbean tourism and a major component in the success of our mission to place the future of Caribbean tourism in the hands of young Caribbean nationals who would not have otherwise had these opportunities, said Pas.
In addition to Johnson & Wales many tourism related courses, the university is bringing a new Golf Management course on stream, which is expected to be immensely valuable for Caribbean hospitality students, added Pas.

CHTA Education Foundation
The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Education Foundation (CHTAEF) was established in 1987 as a stand-alone non-profit / tax-exempt organization, through which scholarships and special assistance would be made available for the education of Caribbean hotel industry personnel and students pursuing careers in tourism. As part of its mission, the Education Foundation provides people throughout the Caribbean region with an awareness of the industrys varied career opportunities, as well as technical and professional development. Since 1987, the Education Foundation has awarded more than US$1 million in scholarships and grants to applicants who demonstrate a strong commitment to the hospitality and tourism industry.
